Employers of migrant workers need a work permit for Croatian and non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals. The application procedure for a work permit and a residence permit for migrant workers is combined in an application for a single permit for residence and work. Both, the employer and the foreigner, can apply for this single permit at the IND. Croats, students and seasonal workers cannot apply for a single permit for residence and work. They can apply separately for a work permit.
The IND has introduced a streamlined process to grant residence permits to highly skilled migrants. Whether or not a highly skilled migrant is granted a residence permit depends on income levels and agreements between the IND and the employers.
